Leaf and Petal Tips

  1. Always use colouring sparingly, the best way is to build up layers of colour - it's easier to control the end result and you get a deeper colour finish.
  2. Use colour pastes rather than the liquid food colourings you have in the cupboard.  If you use liquid colouring, it  will change the consistency of the paste and can make it sticky. 
  3. Use cotton buds or small makeup applicators to dust areas like the tips of the petals so you can have more control over where to colour goes
  4. If you're having trouble keeping your paste at a constant temperature while you're working - try putting it in a sealed container in a apron pocket!
  5. Always keep a sandwich bag handy to put over work when the phone rings!
